A tragic accident involving an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) claimed the life of a seven-year-old boy on June 24.

Landon Woodbury, the son of Spencer and Penny (Johnson) Woodbury of Draper, UT, was critically injured in a 4-wheeler accident. The child and his family were visiting relatives in Eastland.

The seven-year-old was riding the ATV when he approached an intersection in Eastland and collided with a dump truck owned by Crowley Construction.

The boy was wearing a helmet but sustained severe head injuries. The victim’s sister was following on a separate 4-wheeler when the accident happened.

San Juan County Sheriff Mike Lacy said that rain and speed may have been contributing factors in the accident.

The child was taken to San Juan Hospital in Monticello for emergency treatment and later life flighted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, CO. He was transferred to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT, where he was later pronounced dead.

Woodbury’s organs were harvested and donated to help other youth who are in need.

The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

Funeral services for Woodbury were held on Monday, June 29 in Draper, with a graveside service in Eastland on June 30.
