Local members of the Utah National Guard have completed important missions at hot spots around the world, including deployments to Europe, Korea, Japan, and war zones in the Middle East. The 118th Sapper Company recently completed a mission closer to home on September 18 with an impressive effort to help clean up the community of Blanding. The Sapper Company, of the 1457th Engineer Battalion, helped dispose of more than 263 tons of waste material. A total of 310 man hours of work resulted in the disposal of 19 waste loads, five scrap metal loads and two cars. Blanding City Manager Jeremy Redd expressed appreciation to the National Guard for their service to the community. See more photos at sjrnews.com . Courtesy photo
