Broncos send nine wrestlers to state

The San Juan Bronco wrestling team moves on to the 2A state tournament this weekend in Orem, with nine wrestlers seeking a state title.

The Broncos were led at the Southern Divisional tournament in Richfield by Jade Grover and Hershel Todachinie, who both finished in third place.

Grover earned a spot in the 140 pound weight division. The junior earned his third trip to the state tourney in three years.

A senior, Todachinie earned a spot in the state tournament for the second year in a row at 285 pounds.

Senior Ty Hosler made it four for four in his high school career by qualifying for the state tournament at 135 pounds. He aims to improve on his sixth place finishes at the state tourney as a sophomore and as a junior.

Another returning state placer, sophomore Dallin Jacobsen at 112 pounds, earned a spot with a fourth place finish at the regional meet. Jacobsen looks to improve on a fifth place finish as a freshman.

Sophomore Jayden Squires earned a spot at with a fourth place finish at 125 pounds.

Chase Palmer finished fifth at 135 pounds. He will be joined at the state tournament by Broncos who finished in sixth place in the regional qualifier. They include Russell Musselman at 119 pounds, Jens Grover at 160 pounds, and Nathan Webb at 171 pounds. Webb and Musselman also qualified for state last year.

Other Broncos who wrestled at the divisional tournament include Jerel Todachinie, Garrett Barton, and Sterling Black.
