The San Juan Broncos season ended one game before they intended on November 7 in Ogden, UT. Hoping to punch their ticket to a sixth championship game since 2005, the Broncos fell 24-0 to the Bears of Summit Academy.
Both teams’ defenses dominated the first quarter of play as neither offense could sustain a drive or score. Midway through the second quarter and down 3-0, San Juan seemed to be gaining momentum when they forced the Bears into a fourth and long situation around midfield.
Just as soon as things were looking up for the Broncos disaster struck when San Juan was flagged for ruffing the punter. The result of the penalty gave Summit Academy a first down and new life another ill-timed penalty on the drive again gave the Bears another first down. Summit Academy capitalized on the Bronco mistake, scoring a touchdown and posting a 10-0 lead for the Bears at half time.
In the second half, San Juan struggled to gain any of the momentum they lost in the first half back, while Summit Academy chewed up big chunks of time on two long scoring drives in the third quarter. This pushed the Bears lead to 24-0 where it would remain the rest of the game.

The final game of the season is always a tough one for players, coaches and fans. In the end winning does make the bitter pill of saying good-bye to another group of seniors a bit easier to swallow, but just a little bit.
Austin, Braxton, Brittain, Chase, DiQuan, Easton, Grant, Holden, Jonathon, Kade, Kesian, Max and Trason all brought something special to the team to make it successful. Be thankful for all the good times, learn from the bad and always cherish the memories and friendships you have forged with each other. Remember what you’ve learned over the past four years, use it to be the very best you can be and to help others whenever you can.
If you do you will succeed in whatever you choose to do. In closing I just want to say thanks for including me on your journey.
