• Commissioners signed a resolution in support of The Nature Conservancy efforts to secure funding from the Laree Macalister Critical Land Conservation Fund for a conservation easement.
The easement would protect Gunnison Sage Grouse on more than 400 acres of private land in the TARB area northeast of Monticello.
The easement would prohibit subdivision on the land.
While Commissioners gave their support to the effort, they expressed concern that predators present a bigger threat to the Gunnison Sage Grouse than does development. The easement would not prohibit predator control in the future.
• Commissioners signed a new state contract for the Aging Department that represents a $19,000 decrease over the previous year.
