County Fair opens

The 2011 San Juan County Fair begins Friday, August 5 and runs through August 13 with the theme “Sheep Thrills and Muddy Wheels”.

The fair culminates a summer of hard work and fun for kids and adults under the direction of Fair Manager Anna Thayn and a host of volunteers.

Friday opens with archery instruction and a comedy hypnotist. The Silver Sage Band performs at 6 p.m. The night ends with the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Blue Mountain Round-up Rodeo.

Saturday begins with a 3D archery shoot, a Mud Bog, and 4 Corners Shoot-Out at Bull Hollow. The Blue Mountain Round-up Rodeo is at 8 p.m.

Monday, August 8 features “FAIR”ly Fun Game Show and family movie.

Navajo Taco Dinner on Tuesday, August 9 is followed by volunteers recognition ceremony and Farm Bureau Talent Find.

Additional events include Mud Volleyball on Wednesday, August 10. Livestock shows and children’s fair lead up to a concert on Thursday, August 11, featuring Joe Diffie.

Events Friday, August 12 include a local rodeo, all-night softball tourney, and midnight 5K race.

On Saturday, August 13, Junior and Mini Livestock auctions begin at 1 p.m.
