Fair organizers will ask all members of the audience, fair patrons, contestants, vendors and rodeo/fair personnel to wear pink that day. The day will be to promote Breast Cancer awareness. They will donate a portion of every rodeo ticket sold to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The “Tough Enough To Wear Pink” rodeo campaign is sweeping the country in the rodeo world. Organizers are inviting all local businesses to do their own “Pink” event. It can be as simple as donating a portion of proceeds made that day, or that week. You could promote a special “wear pink and we make a donation” campaign.
In some cities, restaurants have offered a “pink” dessert or drink and given all proceeds to the campaign, car dealers have tied pink ribbons to their cars the week of the event, golf courses have donated for everyone who wears pink to golf or held special “Pink” tournaments.
Anything you can dream up would be fantastic! Organizers will then ask all money collected to be brought to the fair to add to the total collected for San Juan County and a check will be sent to the Komen Foundation.
As an added bonus, any business who does a “Pink” event will be listed with their event information in the fair guide, which goes out to over 6,000 people.
Any business who would like to do an event, please email Anna Thayn at athayn@ftitel.net by June 13 to have your information listed.
Thank you for your support of this worthwhile cause.
