Born June 20, 1933 to Bernice Mortensen and Erastus Burtenshaw, in Blanding, UT, Dorothy was the tenth out of 11 children.
Dorothy spent her childhood in Blanding, UT, where she went to school and worked.
As a young adult, she worked as a waitress in the Elk Ridge Restaurant, and this is where she met Dee Curtis Hancock from Spanish Fork, UT when he was working on road construction.
They were married October 20, 1954 in Las Vegas, NV, and later the marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
To this union were born three children: Steve Dee (Katt), Wade Allen (Modessa) and Sherri Lee.
Dorothy was well known for her love for cooking, baking and gardening, she and Dee always had the most beautiful yard and garden and loved to share with everyone.
Her pride and joy were always her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had ten grandchildren and 11 3/4 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother; she will be missed by all.
She passed away at her home in Blanding on August 21, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She is survived by her spouse, children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also by three sisters (Delna, Nina and Frankie), two brothers (Ferron and Devon), and multiple nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters.
