The E-Bay Foundation recently presented a $10,000 check to Transition Pantry in Blanding. The funds are to help fund the Transitions backpacks program. It is from the E-Bay Salt Lake City Global Impact Team – GIVE Team.

The backpacks program is run by Kim Starkweather for a Sterling Scholar project at San Juan High School. The backpacks program provides food for schoolchildren who may go hungry on weekends.

Kim has worked hard for the children in San Juan County to provide food for student use over the weekends. The check will pay for 2,000 backpacks which will provide approximately six small meals a weekend for 100 students for 20 weeks.

Those who have helped Kim with the project include Susan Starkweather, Ron Starkweather, Tom Dyer and Earl Dyer.

Kim filled backpacks for many years with her “Nana”, Transitions founder Sandra Asbury. She wanted to start the project again.

Transitions provided the group with the space to store food and stuff the backpacks.
