March 19, 1934 ~ Jan 18, 2012 & March 1, 1928 ~ Feb 18, 2012

John Rogers was born March 1, 1928 and was the son of Herbert Lowima and Eva May Rogers. He grew up on farms near Dove Creek, CO.

Most of his adult life, he was involved in logging and trucking in the Four Corners area. He hauled produce, uranium, crude oil and petroleum products. He lived in the Casa Grande, AZ area for the last 21 years, where he was involved in a family rental real estate business. He had developed a broad range of home repair and mechanical skills and was a ready source of experience for anyone that needed help.

He spent much of the last two years caring for his wife, Edna, who had Parkinson’s disease.

Edna Mae Black Rogers was born March 19, 1934 in Moab, UT and was the daughter of Thell Vivian and Fern Elizabeth Black. She married John Rogers in 1953.

Edna had a deep abiding faith in her Savior and daily expressed gratitude for her many blessings.

She wrote in her journal, “We have so many blessings to be grateful for. I’m so grateful for my family.”

She loved gardening and always had lovely flower and vegetable gardens.

Edna loved her husband and her family. Many times in their married life, John would be gone from home for several days.

Her journal entries reflected the gratitude she felt when he was with her as in the following entry, “It was so good to have Johnny come home tonight.”

Edna was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings. She developed many close friendships with those she worked with and served. She was active with her family and her community until Parkinson’s Disease decreased her abilities.

Edna passed away on January 18, 2012 and was followed by John, on February 18, 2012.

Edna is survived by her brother Kennard (Jean) Black and her sister Karen (Larry) Gray.

John is survived by his brother Bill (Lou) Rogers of Dove Creek, CO and sisters Bessie Jordan of Chapel Hill, NC, and Pat (James) Henderson of Grand Junction, CO.

They are both survived by their son, Kelly (Debbie) Rogers; daughters Betty Vowles and Brenda (Bill) Swadley, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Their family would like to thank those who served them during their last years of life.

A Memorial Service was held in Casa Grande, AZ for Edna on Saturday, January 21, 2012 and for John on February 25, 2012.
