Come and see San Juan High School’s second annual Experiments in Ink Feb. 12-14 at 7 p.m. in the Arena Theatre.

Ink is a fund raiser for region and state drama competitions. Come and support the team. Experiments in Ink will feature plays written and directed by SJH Drama students. This year they will also feature musical theatre numbers which will be part of the new Musical Theatre exhibition round at state drama.

Plays this year include Complications by Becca Black and Kortney Johnson: Cozette is positive that she has found the “right” man for her. Her brother and friend, however, don’t agree. They have found someone that is far more perfect than her current boyfriend, James. When James proposes will she be ready to say yes? Or will she be won over by Skylor?

The cast includes Morgan Glover, Marvalyn Kuykendall, Joel Raisor, Jaydan Raisor, and Michael Hawkins.)

A Veiling Perception by Kelly Davis is inspired by the style of Samuel Beckett. This piece includes masked characters confronting a piece of art. The masks are screaming opinions which overlap to emphasize the strict order of their opinions. An unmasked girl sees the art as beautiful. They attack her, and force a mask on her. “A Veiled Perception” is set during the time of the sexual revolution. Some supported the new acceptance of classical art, while some condemned it, and taught their children and piers to condemn it with them.

The cast includes Rachel Nielson, Daniel Noirot, Mckenzie Adams, Kelly Davis, and Sam Bergemen.

Desperate Dying Hope by Mckenzie Adams is about a year earlier, Pheobe got pregnant and the father walks away scared to death of the responsibility. Now he returns a few weeks after the baby is born, because Pheobe is in desperate need; she’s dying and has only a few weeks left. Will he choose to do as Pheobe asks or will he turn away like he did before and leave their daughter with a dead mother and no father?

The cast includes Sam Bergman, Elijah Palmer, Morgan Glover, Austin Seiter.

Power Undefined by Jaydan Raisor is an organized improv. Enjoy Power Undefined as we decide who has power of the stage. This high energy play will change the way you see acting. There is a spirit about improv I encourage everyone to see. The play is a contest between many stereotypical positions held in theater. Who will win? Will it be our stupid actor our schizophrenic tech or our superhero narrator.

The cast includes Daniel Noirot, Michael Hawkins, Austin Seiter, Joel Raisor, Rebecca Bushore.

Thespionage by Victoria Black is about four specially trained secret agents who hunt down a notorious script thief. Poor Arthur Burns is caught right in the middle. On his way to school, nerdy Arthur Burns, who has never done anything exiting in his life, is rescued by a secret agent. He gets hauled into headquarters where he meets Ditch, the get-away driver, Slick, the master of disguise, and Tech, the computer, fix-it man. Soon, he has to become an agent himself to catch the thief and save the spies. In the end, the agent-in-charge, Alpha, appears and offers Arthur a permanent place among the spy world as Omega.

The cast includes: Alpha- Alex Davis, Ditch- Elijah Palmer, Slick- Janine Fahey, Tech- Joel Raisor, Thief- Kelsey Wilson, Arthur Burns- Michael Hawkins.)
