Adams was presented the honor at a February 22 banquet sponsored by the San Juan School District Education Foundation.
Liz Adams has worked for the San Juan School District for the past 22 years, with the majority of her time spent at Blanding Elementary School. As the San Juan School District Teacher of the Year, she will represent the district at the Utah State Teacher of the Year competition.
Adams is involved in a full range of activities in the classroom, in the school and in the community. In addition to her fifth grade classroom, Liz is the school coordinator for the English Language Learner program, helping to coordinate efforts of teachers throughout the largest school in the district.
She also serves the teaching community with the San Juan Educator Association, where she has served as the president and vice president.
According to Blanding Elementary Principal Mark Burge, “Liz is a team player. She continuously looks for ways to improve her teaching by collaborating with other teachers.
“She is also willing to volunteer for assignments to support our school.”
