Students at Blanding Elementary School recently raised well over $1,000 for needy families and all it cost was Principal Mark Burge’s hair (in addition to the hair of staff members Brian Bilbao and Tad Barton). Students raised the funds, primarily in pennies, in about a week’s time. The hair was cut (with the help of Katherine Turk) at an end-of-semester assembly at the school. The newly-shorn school workers swear that it was worth it to raise funds for locally needy families. Staff photos
