Golden Apple for teacher at Blanding Elementary

Julie Lee, a teacher at Blanding Elementary School, is one of eight Utahns that received the 2009 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Education, presented by the Utah PTA and KUED Public Television.



Each Golden Apple Award recipient receives a $1,000 cash award and was honored at an awards ceremony and dinner on May 19. Presenting the awards were Christine Kearl, the Governor’s director of Education, Marilyn Simister, president of the Utah PTA and Kim Campbell, Utah Education Association president.



The 2009 teacher honorees include educators Karen Dodge, of Wasatch Junior High School; Suzette Johnson, of Columbia Elementary School; Michelle Larsen, of Timpanogos High School; Jane Robinson, of Burton Elementary School; LeAnna Willmore, of Riverton High School; and volunteers Henry Ogborn, of Millcreek High School; and Jackie Pettis, of Oak Canyon Junior High School.
