I guess that’s just January! Okay, January you can go now. Let February do its thing. Snow is okay, just a little gentler winter.
Good news – with all the snow, we’ve averted the first mud season of the year. And the snow continues. The kiddos had snow days with full blown, don’t bother to come to school day on January 28 and February 4. Lots of folks got an extra long weekend with Sunday’s snow storm. If roads are closed it’s hard to make it to town and school and work. Oh, sorrow! Its been a year or few since the schools had a snow day. Fun!
Whether you were cheering for New England or New York on Sunday you have to admit it was a nail-biter of a game. Even non-football fans had to enjoy the excitement. And the commercials were good too – some of them.
The kids at La Sal Elementary are missing their favorite aide, Miss Lilly. She is home on maternity leave for a few weeks after the arrival of her new little baby boy. More details on the little one next week. Filling in during her absence is Miss Viv, who also wears the local bus driver hat. The kids should be comfortable with her, don’t you think?!
Okay, it is nearly Valentines Day so let me again remind you of the Valentines pot luck on February 16 at the LDS Church. Eating commences at 6:30 La Sal standard time. Bring something red or pink to share and be prepared to tell how you met your sweetheart. Actually I guess this is a post-Valentines party. Who cares, come on out and enjoy a good time. Red food, that’s an open invitation for some local folks to take creative license which can lead to disaster. Be careful that night.
Speaking of disasters – some folk finally took Jim Blankenagel up on his invitation to try out a little snowmobiling in the new powder last Saturday between storms. I have to admit it was a real kick – except the keep getting stuck part.

Thank goodness for a grandson-in-law and sort of adopted son who kept digging me out of the two foot plus powdery powder and up-righting my sled. Yep, it was great fun. Sure beat a nap in front of the fire.
I’m signing off with a good-bye (and go away) to January. Lets have a little milder February.
