Eric Halls, age 34 and Tiesha Shumway, age 24, of Monticello were arrested for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish and psilocybin mushrooms with intent to distribute.
In addition, the two were arrested for possession of stolen property.
San Juan County Sheriff Rick Eldredge reports that additional materials found at the time of arrest indicate that it was a “fairly large operation.”
Agencies involved include the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Blanding and Monticello police departments, Utah Highway Patrol, and Adult Probation and Parole.
In addition, three Blanding residents were arrested for various parole-violation warrants, in addition to the possession of marijuana. They include Nikki Perkins (age 23), Rodney Austin (age 33), and Dominique Lee (age 19).
Eldredge reports that the investigation is ongoing and added that additional arrests may occur.
The Sheriff adds a reminder to area residents that surveillance cameras are fairly cheap and very beneficial in discouraging potential thieves. In addition, they can be very helpful to assist law enforcement efforts in criminal investigations.
Eldredge said that drug crimes and theft crimes often go hand in hand. When law enforcement solves one case, they are often able to solve many others.
