March 1, 1968 ~ June 8, 2016

It is with the greatest sorrow we announce the passing of Kenton ‘Kent’ Paul Swanson, 48, of Brighton, CO on June 8, 2016 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Kent was born in Cumberland, MD to Bonnie and Gary Swanson on March 1, 1968. Kent spent his early years in Loomis, NE which forever imparted a love for the Cornhuskers.

In Kent’s seventh grade year, the uranium industry took the family to Uravan in southwest Colorado. Uravan was a paradise for mischievous boys coming of age.

Kent made some of his deepest and most enduring connections during this time. He finished high school in Monticello, UT and went on to graduate from the University of Utah in 1991.

Upon graduation, Kent took a job in Rock Springs where he met his wife, Sandy, the love of his life, whom he married in 1994.

After almost eight years building a career, slaying fish, and cheering on the Broncos and all teams Ute, the two relocated to Denver. In Denver the two found their new passion in horses, establishing a small breeding stable and competing for local purses.

Kent was a kind and gentle person with a bigger-than-life personality. He will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him. Perhaps his mother Bonnie said it best when she said, “To know Kent was to love Kent.”

Kent is survived by his wife, Sandy; mother, Bonnie; brothers, Nathan ‘Nate’ (Ashley) and Jaymon ‘Jay’ (Erin); nieces, Lauryn and Aubrey; and nephews, Ivan and Quinn.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gary.

Services were held in Brighton, CO.
