LaRee Adams Jensen was born June 13, 1934 in Moab, UT to Joseph William Adams and Dora Black Adams. She was born prematurely and weighed only three and one half pounds. Her father could hold her in the palm of his hand.

She grew up in Monticello and attended grade school and high school there, where she was active and involved.

Following her graduation in 1952, she attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO, a two-year girl’s school.

Then she attended Brigham Young University, where she graduated in 1956. She obtained a position, teaching third grade at Geneva Elementary in Orem, UT.

In the spring of 1957 she met her eternal companion, Steven Jensen of Gridley, CA. They made their home in Gridley, where they lived for 37 years and raised their family.

LaRee taught elementary school for 32 years. She has been very active in her ward and stake, serving as Young Women President, Stake Primary President and as Ward Relief Society President, along with many teaching callings.

Steven and LaRee had three children together: Bradley (Kathleen) of Lafayette, CA; Robert (Tenney) of Nassau, the Bahamas; and Wendy (Michael) Shanks of Provo, UT.

They have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

When her husband was called as Mission President of the Ireland Dublin Mission, LaRee served faithfully with him there, was a great friend to all the missionaries and they loved her.

Upon their return from Ireland, they settled in Orem.

She passed away on October 25, 2017. LaRee’s parents and two sisters precede her in death. She is survived by three brothers.

Funeral services were held October 28 with interment in the Orem City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.uvfuneral.com.
