The Monticello Lions Club recently completed their inaugural “Fall Feast”, a fundraising dinner meant to assist with the completion of the new swimming pool.

The dinner, scheduled to coincide with the start of the deer hunt, was a revival of the traditional “Deer Hunter’s Ball” which used to kick off the hunting season. More than 230 community members purchased tickets for dinner and door prizes.

Proceeds from the dinner were then combined with other funds raised earlier in the year by the club, resulting in a $5,000 check for the city.

According to Lance Hatch, club president of the Monticello Lions Club, “The Lions Club raises money throughout the year through a variety of events, including the traditional July 24th breakfast. While the funds are often used to provide scholarships and eyeglasses for the needy, this year the primary goal has been to help the community by contributing to the construction of the new pool.”

Lions members thank everyone who contributed throughout the year to this important cause. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community.”

The Monticello Lions Club has 28 members and meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7 p.m. at the Lions Club Building near the Fairgrounds.

Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. For more information or to get involved with the Monticello Lions Club, contact Lance Hatch at 587-1020 or Kraig Black at 587-3335.
