LuRae Whitney Brown was called home May 8. She was welcomed by her eternal companion, Charles Ray Brown and three of her children, Renae, Shelly and Raquel.

She is also preceded by two of her grandchildren, Jared and Jasmine Brown.

Rae was born in Hurricane, UT to George Fenton Whitney and Lettie Tobler. She graduated from Hurricane High School and Brigham Young University, where she met Ray. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rae was always up for a new adventure. She loved driving around in the mountains and canyons and hiking. She was a world traveler with her sisters. She rode a zipline in Alaska, climbed up 1,000 stairs to see a Buddhist temple in China, tubed down an underground river in Mexico, rode a camel in Petra, backpacked across Europe with Stacie, rode a horse on the sand dunes in Chile, gifted over 300 dolls in Guatamala and walked in the footsteps of Jesus in Israel. At age 70, she broke her ankle swinging on her rope.

She served two LDS missions—one to North Carolina and the other to Kentucky. She also spent many years as an ordinance worker in the Monticello temple.

Rae is survived by Chirle (Kevin) Jones, Vickie (Gregory) Isaac, Diane Brown, Charles Ray Brown Jr., Shelly’s husband Greg Ishii, Stacie Reed, and Jeanette (Dan) Russell. Also 28 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, May 12 in Blanding.
