Marci Lyman Bowen was born on a snowy spring day, May 3, 1975, in Monticello, UT. She was born the youngest of eight children to Francis and DaNece Lyman and spent her happy childhood in Blanding, UT.
As a young child, she, upon hearing her father return from work, would take a running leap from the landing of their living room into his waiting arms.
Marci’s mother was, from the moment of her birth, quite sure that her long fingers would do well to play a piano. She learned to play the piano, accompanied for the high school choir and served as the ward organist.
Throughout high school, Marci participated in volleyball and dance, and made many lifelong friends.
When Marci was just 16, her
father passed away suddenly. This moment sparked a growth of new talent in Marci as she, out of necessity, learned to fix the broken things around the house, a talent that stayed with her throughout her life.
Marci graduated from San Juan High School in 1993. While studying secondary education at SUU, Marci met Brian Mathew Bowen, of Idaho Falls, and the two were married on July 19, 1997, and later sealed in the Jordan River Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Together they welcomed five beautiful children into their family: McKenna (18), Jensen (15), Jake (12), Ellie (11), and Launa (7). Marci’s greatest joy was her children, and she was noted for doing all she could to make happy occasions special for them; Marci loved being a mom.
Her love of cooking, baking, sewing and crafting was enjoyed by her family and so many more as she was always willing to share her talents and serve those around her.
Marci was continually positive, even in those final weeks of life, and believed in counting her blessings.
Through the joys and trials of Marci’s own life, she has always found a way to reach out to those around her and give them strength. Her love of working to fix broken things extended beyond material household objects to people, and she did what she could to help those in need.
Marci passed away at her home on a rainy Thursday afternoon surrounded by her family, and once more, she was welcomed into the arms of her loving father, and her Heavenly Father.
Marci left a lasting legacy of love and will be deeply and greatly mourned.
She is preceded in death by her father, Francis M. Lyman, and her sister, LeAnn Lyman Hall.
She is survived by her husband and children; siblings Duane (Sallie), Lynette (Matt) Bayles, Kent Lyman and Becky Lyman, Kelly (Shauna) Lyman, Phil (Jody) Lyman, Cori (McKay) Hugentobler; in-laws; nieces and nephews.
