Mary S Black was born January 23, 1928 in Blanding, UT to Esther May Price and Harris Shumway. She was the third of five children.

She married Oley P Black on August 9, 1946 in the Logan Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They had seven children, 29 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mary loved to crochet, bowl, square dance, Jeeping, camping, and was a devoted fan of the Utah Jazz. Mary loved the gospel and served a full time LDS mission to the Nashville Tennesse Mission. She also served faithfully in many other church callings.

Mary and Oley also served several stake missions together. 

Mary is survived by her four daughters Joyce Lance (Terry), Jeannie Mecham (Lee), Duchesne UT. Terri Palmer St. George Ut. Cindy Perkins (Curtiss) Blanding, UT. Claudia Orr, (sister) Dale Shumway (brother) Blanding, UT.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Oley, her parents, a brother, a sister, her only son Val, her two daughters, Lanette and Tammi, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
