The Monticello Beautification Committee recently presented two awards for lawns in town.

George and Bonnie Rice were presented a beautification award for the landscaping at their home on 100 West.

Nick and Rama Patel were presented a xeriscaping award for the landscaping at the Canyonlands Motor Inn on north Main Street.

The Patel’s placed Bella Blue Grass in front of their motel. It takes 30 percent less water and reduces mowing by 50 to 80 percent because it has minimal vertical growth. This variety of grass is drought and heat resistant. In addition, their fountain re-circulates water.

The Monticello Beautification Committee encourages area residents to drive past these two award-winning landscapes, and take the opportunity to thank the Rice’s and Patel’s for contributing to the beauty of the community!
