In November, 2007, soon after the inaugural Newspapers Rock race, Runners World magazine highlighted the Indian Creek corridor in their monthly Rave Run feature.
The magazine raved about the canyon, stating there “is a scenic treat around every corner.”
Race director Scott Burton encourages runners to sign up early to secure a t-shirt, which designer Andrea Montgomery says is sure to become a collector’s item, like the previous shirts.
In 2007, nearly 30 runners participated in the inaugural race. The overall winner was Matt Larson. More than double participated in the 2008 race, which was won by Taylor Francom. Early registration hints that there will be significantly more runners for the 2009 race.
