Macee Nielson earned All-American athletic honors after racing in the USA Track & Field National Championship Cross Country race on December 8.

The freshman at Monticello High School finished eighth out of 145 freshman and sophomore runners from throughout the United States. The top 25 finishers are named All-American.

The race was run in bitter cold conditions at Rim Rock Farms, a nationally recognized cross country course in Lawrence, Kansas.

It has been a busy two months for Nielson since she dominated the Utah state cross country meet in October. She was invited to join the Sojourners, an Orem-based team that participates in USA Track and Field races.

Macee was first in a state race and second in a regional race to qualify for the national race.

In another race, she placed third out of 133 freshmen running in the Footlocker West Regional Championship in Los Angeles, CA.
