Candidates interested in pursuing elected office in Monticello and Blanding can begin filing for office during a registration period that begins on June 3 and continues through June 7.

Three elected positions are open in each municipality, including Mayor and two city council positions.

In Monticello, the mayor position currently held by Doug Allen will be up for grabs, in addition to council seats currently held by Brad Randall and Craig Leavitt.

Allen has served as the Mayor in Monticello since 2006 and served on the city council for six years before that.

Randall has been a member of the Monticello City Council since 2006. Leavitt has served since 2010, with previous terms on the City Council in the 1990s.

In Blanding, the mayor position currently held by Toni Turk will be up for grabs, in addition to council seats currently held by Robert Ogle and Charlie Taylor.

Turk has served as the Mayor in Blanding since 2004. Taylor has served on the Blanding City Council since 2010 and Ogle was appointed to serve on the council in 2012.

After the filing period closes, a primary election may be held to pare the list of candidates. The General Election will take place on November 5.
