Here it is press time once more

And spring is knocking at my door

Saying, “come outside and see

Wonders that beckon to you & me”

Like budding trees, birds that sing

Blooming flowers and everything

That makes our senses come alive

And makes us happy to survive.

So let’s get out and smell the flowers

In this remaining time of ours

Maybe it will make us stronger

And let us live a little longer

Even if it doesn’t do the latter

It may keep us from getting fatter.

April birthdays and Anniversaries were 7th Martha Gardner, 8th Lathel Shepherd, 9th Cosmo Moccio, 14th Andy Montano, 14th Arlow & Sue Freestone, 15th Nell Dalton, 19th Edith Francom, 23rd Helen Perkins, 24th Cathryn Croft. Those who came to the luncheon received musical happy Birthdays.

On April 3rd Mary Beth Green-TRS Specialist, from the State of Utah Public Service Commission traveled from Salt Lake City to inform us of the Relay Utah program available to all hearing impaired persons in the state. These special phones are available free of charge to anyone needing such services. She returned and installed phones for everyone who signed up for one. Martha has the information and application forms at the center.

Some of our snowbirds have flown back home. Bud & Barbara Corbin, Cosmo Moccia and Bob Williams. We hope the wind that welcomed them didn’t make them sorry.

Early in the month Dr. Reay came and talked to seniors about the dangers of Radon gas in the home. He suggest we get a test that is available for detection.

The trip to Cortez on the eleventh was enjoyed by a small but comfortable group of seniors. Telefora Chacon was an infrequent passenger. Martha drove the small bus.

The first bingo session, on the 8th was well-attended. Ann called. All the players won at least one game. Nell won blackout. At the second session on the 22, a smaller group was present. Nell called. Cindy won blackout that day.

On the 15th Gloria Eberling gave counseling service about nutritious meals for ourselves and our families, and passed out booklets to the group.

Twenty people enjoyed an especially delicious pot luck social on Friday the 25th. There were several main dish casseroles with plenty of salads and main dishes. Martha out did herself on the tasty spring rhubarb pies. We were also treated to some Amish friendship bread.

After feasting, we played a couple of skill testing games Then everyone enjoyed JJ’s terrific harmonica playing, since he plays the old songs we know, we joined in a sing-a-long. This month-May’s potluck will be held at 5:30 on the last Wednesday instead of Friday. This is so our friend Dakota can furnish the entertainment. That will be May 28. See you there.

On the last trip of the month-to Monument Valley, no one showed up except Len Warren so he went with the Blanding seniors and reported a very good time.
