Nearly 100 runners are expected to participate in the fifth annual Newspapers Rock! 10K on Saturday, October 8.

The annual race, sponsored by the San Juan Record, begins at 10 a.m. at Newspaper Rock. Racers wind their way 6.2 miles through spectacular Indian Creek Canyon in the height of the fall colors.

The finish line is at the mouth of the canyon near the Dugout Ranch.

Racers and walkers are welcome to participate.

Racers can pick up race packets at the San Juan Record office, 49 S. Main in Monticello, on Thursday or Friday. Race packets can be picked up Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. to close at the Lamplight Restaurant, 587 E. Center in Monticello.

Race registration closes at 9:30 a.m. on race day. The registration desk is at the race finish line.
