Scott Shakespeare has lived in Monticello for the past five years. He is the Principal at Monticello High School.

Shakespeare says he has learned to love Monticello and is passionate about the town, the schools and the kids.

He has served on the council for the past four years and feels they have done many good things to get the city moving in the right direction, with reductions in staffing and expenses, as well as long term debt.

Shakespeare feels that one of the most important parts of the city are the employees, who work for the citizens of Monticello. Shakespeare says they are a great value to the community, which is why he voted to give them a cost of living increase.

The top two concerns for Shakespeare as a councilman are water and infrastructure. He said, “If we don’t have water we can’t do anything in Monticello,” and suggested the need to look at more storage and better use of water.

Maintenance and updates for infrastructure and roads are necessary in order to keep up and keep the city running and are a priority for Shakespeare.
