My name is Taylor Harrison and I am running for Blanding City Council. I grew up in West Jordan, Utah, and graduated from West Jordan High. After high school I served an LDS mission in Des Moines, Iowa.
I met and married Stacy Lyman (Harrison) and very quickly fell in love with Blanding. We were able to move to Blanding in early 2010 and I started working for Wells Fargo Bank.
I started as a part time teller, and worked my way up, first to personal banker and then to the branch manager of the Monticello branch.
Two years ago we were blessed with our beautiful daughter, Palmer. We love Blanding and consider it the best place possible to call home!
Why am I running for city council? I want to be involved in projects that will help Blanding continue to be the best place in the world to live and visit.
I am conservative and believe that the role of government is basic, yet vital.
In my view, the role of government is to provide the basic needs of citizens that they can not provide for themselves.
I believe that government’s role with the local businesses is again vital, but minimal. I believe in open dialogue.
I look forward to discussing issues with citizens of Blanding as well as city councilmen.
I believe a thorough discussion is key to making decisions.
Taxes can not be burdensome to citizens, and I want to make it so they aren’t. I am conservative, and believe in fiscal responsibility.
I love recreation, and want great recreation options for our citizens and visitors, but we have to be reasonable with how those things are provided; I want to keep tax rates as low as possible.
I feel I bring a great perspective to the table with my work experience.
I love Blanding, and want it to continue being the best place in the world to call home! That is why I am running for City Council.
I would appreciate your vote.
