Eagle Air Med is pleased to announce the opening of a new helicopter base in Kayenta, AZ. The Airbus AS350 B3e, will provide emergency 911, interfacility patient transport and search and assist services to Kayenta and the surrounding communities.

Eagle Air Med is a leader in the air ambulance industry and has successfully served the four corners area for more than 30 years. The helicopter, also known as an A-Star, will complement the fixed-wing aircraft Eagle Air Med currently has based in Kayenta.

The company has based a King Air 90, pilots and medical crews in Kayenta since 2000.

“We are enthusiastic about this new resource being added to our fleet and being able to better serve Kayenta and the surrounding communities,” said Mike Brown, Eagle Air Med’s Program Director.

“The addition of a helicopter will give the area much needed life-saving emergency air medical services.”

The helicopter will be staffed by highly trained and qualified pilots, flight nurses and flight paramedics, all who will be based in Kayenta.

“It’s important for the community to know this is a resource they can count on” added Brown. “The A-Star is known for its altitude performance and is ideal for flying in the high altitude of the desert southwest. In fact, this helicopter is the same as the production model that landed on top of Mount Everest.”

The helicopter will be in service starting on April 29, 2015. At noon on that day, Eagle Air Med will host a public grand opening event at the Kayenta Airport.

The event will include a ribbon cutting, native blessing and a drawing for a ride on the helicopter.
