Helen R Vargas, age 60, passed away on May 22, 2016 in Blanding, UT.

She was born on June 1, 1955, in Cortez, CO to Andronico and Sophie Martinez.

She had five siblings, including Gilbert Martinez, Sammy Martinez, Kathy Rodriguez, Frances Harrison, and Pat Martinez.

She married Armando Vargas on June 4, 1983 in Dolores, CO.

Four children joined the family, including Mario, John, Amanda, and Stephen.

They lived in Blanding for 10 years and moved to Monticello, where they lived for 18 years.

Helen was a housekeeper and homemaker. She loved to hunt, fish, and camp in the great outdoors. Her family said that she loves her grandchildren and was the best cook. She will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her father Andronico and son Pat.

She is survived by her mother, four siblings, husband Armando, son Mario (Tricia) Vargas of Blanding, son John Vargas of Cortez, CO, daughter Amanda (Ray) Munson of Monticello, and son Steven Vargas of Monticello.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, with one more due in September. Their names are Salah, Ohud, Mario, Jordan, Esperanza, Ayden, Xavianna, and Amelia.

The Vargas family would like to thank everyone who helped Helen during her ten years of illness, including nurses in Farmington, Grand Junction, Salt Lake City, and Cortez.

She had wonderful help from the Four Corners Nursing Home and Blue Mountain Hospital in Blanding.
