Several hundred enthusiastic supporters of George Wythe University met over the Labor Day weekend to officially break ground for a Monticello campus and announce a new organizational model for the institution.

After several years as George Wythe College, the institution has moved to a university model. Shanon Brooks was named president of George Wythe University and Shane Schulthies was named president of the Monticello college.

They also operate a college in Cedar City and plan to open a college in Alberta, Canada in the near future.

The institution has an audacious dream for the future, with a billion dollar endowment and 40 or 50 colleges.

George Wythe University has not yet been accredited by an accrediting organization.
