Also that night, the City of Monticello will announce the recipient of the 2008 Citizen of the Year award.
The hilarious and melodious Wranglers will appear on Friday, December 19, at 7 p.m. in the Monticello High School Auditorium. The group performed in Monticello in November to a most enthusiastic audience.
Since their program in Monticello, the Bar D Wranglers have performed their famous western stage show at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, for the third year in a row. There they met many country and western stars, including Charlie Pride, John Conley, Bill Anderson, Jim Ed Brown, and Jack Green. They met up with old friends Riders in the Sky and performed with them at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop, home of the second oldest radio show in America. They were interviewed by WSM Radio in a pre-Opry show, along with Charlie Pride and the Restless Heart group.
During the summer, the Bar D Wranglers perform their rousing show of music, stories, and comedy following a barbecue dinner of beef, chicken, or steak at the Bar D Chuckwagon near Durango. The Bar D Chuckwagon opened in 1969 and has become a major attraction.
Since Labor Day and the closure of the Chuckwagon, the Bar D Wranglers have been touring a winter schedule of shows which has taken them to numerous venues in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Idaho.
In December, the show has a Christmas theme, and Cy Scarborough, founder of the Bar D, rejoins the group.
The Bar D Wranglers are excited to return to Monticello after the warm welcome they received here. Blue Mountain Entertainment is just as excited to greet their return.
Admission to the program is by Blue Mountain Entertainment or Kigalia season memberships or by tickets purchased at the door: Families $22.50; Adults $9, and students $4.50. The Bar D Wranglers will have CDs for sale following their program.
