Harlan Monroe Brown, 89 passed away March 31 at his home south of Monticello, UT.
He was born January 3, 1921 to Anna Marie and Roy Monroe Brown in Eureka, CA. He was the oldest of seven children.
He graduated from Arcadia High School in Arcadia, CA. He worked on dairy farms til he joined the service in February 1945. He served in Italy during World War II in the Army Medical Corp. He left the service in December, 1946.
He attended Madison College near Nashville, TN, where he met the love of his life: Verle Anna Hamel. They were married December 23, 1948. To this union, three boys and four girls were born.
He enjoyed spending time visiting with family friends and strangers, listening to music and reading the Bible. He had a love for animals and the outdoors, often he could be found in his orchard or garden.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, and daughter (Mary Ann Elizabeth Bartlett).
He is survived by children: Wayne Brown of Berry Creek, CA: David (Robin) Brown of Lyle, WA; Marvin (Julie) Brown of Queensland, Australia; Esther Golia of Naselle, WA; Naomi (Henry) Amador, of Ukiah, CA; and Martha (Richard) Garner of Monticello, UT; siblings Curtis (Phylis) Brown of Sweet Home, OR; Shirley Valentini of Sacramento, CA; Irvin Brown of Hesperus, CO; Jim (Teena) Brown of Cottonwood, CA; Larry (Carolyn) Brown of Ukiah, CA; and pat (Floyd) Archer of Curlew, WA; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held in July, 2010.
