On August 12 in White Mesa, Jennifer Cantsee, age 47 of White Mesa, was shot once in the head at close range. She died at the scene.
Nathan Dutchie, age 37 of White Mesa, was charged with second degree murder in the US District Court in Salt Lake City.
On August 15, Edgar Chee of Oljato was charged with second degree murder for the August 14 death of a two year old boy. The charge was filed in the US District Court.
On August 7, a bicyclist from France died after an accident east of Bluff. Andre Gerard Gerst, age 69, died after he was thrown when his bicycle hit a cattle guard on Highway 262 near St. Christophers Mission. He was traveling with a group which was bicycling from Chicago to Los Angeles.
On August 12, 23 year-old Darrick Warren of Red Mesa died in what law enforcement officials are calling a alcohol-related incident.
