Arthur “Art” Manzanares

October 19, 1930 ~ March 20, 2010
Surrounded by his family, our beloved dad and grandpa, Arthur Manzanares, passed away peacefully at his home in Price on March 20, 2010 due to complications from a stroke that he suffered last June.
Art was born on October 19, 1930 in Monticello, UT to Cleofes Archuletta  and Bill Guiermo Manzanares. While in Monticello, he married Florence Torres, on September 24, 1949. They had seven children together. Billy, Leroy, Steven, Michael, Kenneth, Julie, and Christina.
In the late 1960’s, Art moved to Moab, where he had many wonderful friends.  In 2001, Art moved to Price, UT. We are forever thankful for his decision to move close to us, and very grateful for the bonds and joyful memories that followed.
Art loved the great outdoors, watching the Jazz games and especially fishing with his kids and grandkids. He was a uranium and coal miner, construction worker, and also liked working as an extra in the many movies that were filmed in the great valley of Moab.  Art had a great sense of humor, and was always a lot of fun to be around.  He will be greatly missed!
He is survived by his sons Bill (Monene) of South Jordan, UT; Lee (Priscilla); Steven (Joann); Michael; Kenneth; daughter Christina Herrera (Benny); all of Price, UT; daughter Julie Manzanares of Logan, UT; stepson Johnny Salazar of Payson, UT;  many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews.
Art is preceded in death by his parents, brother Susano; sisters Pomasena Gallegos, Sylvia Nieves, Lena Maestas, Lucille Garcia, and Anna Razo.
Funeral Mass will be, Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 10 a.m. at the Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church.  Vigil service is Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home.  Family will be at Mitchell’s Wednesday and Thursday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.  Friends are welcome to share online memories of Art at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
