Dale Price Shumway

May 11, 1936 ~ April 24, 2020

Dale Price Shumway was born May 11, 1936 in Malad, ID to Harris and Esther Price Shumway. He passed away April 24, 2020 in Blanding.

Dale grew up in Blanding and graduated from San Juan High. He worked for a while mining uranium, then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southwest Indian Mission.

He married Cherie Jeanerette in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

After graduating from BYU in 1967, they lived in California. He later taught school on the Apache reservation in Arizona and at the Rough Rock school.

They then moved to Salem, OR and he taught for another reservation school. Then he went back to work in construction. They moved back to Blanding 15 years ago.

Dale is survived by his wife; children, Sabra (Randy) Killen and Clayton Shumway; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Claudia Orr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Cleon, and sisters Norma Wengreen and Mary Black.

Shumway was laid to rest in the Blanding Cemetery on April 30, 2020.
