George Randall Bradford September 21, 1954 ~ January 9, 2023

George Randall (Randy) Bradford, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 after a valiant life.
Randy was born on July 20, 1948, in Monticello, Utah, to George Harvey Bradford and Jesse Mae Johnson Bradford. He was the oldest of eight children and grew up in Blanding.
In his early childhood he spent many hours with his Grandpa Johnson riding herd on cattle. In his teens he helped his dad at the local gas station, getting into or causing mischief.
After graduating from San Juan High School, he honorably served four tours of duty with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Randy then valiantly served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the southern states mission, headquartered in Baton Rouge Louisiana.
He also attended Southern Utah University. In 1975 he married Janet Nielson in the Manti Utah temple. Together they raised four children.
Randy loved the four corners area, the mountains, the deserts, fishing and rock hunting. San Juan County was his favorite place on the planet, and he was always happy to return home to it.
He spent a lot of his time outside running heavy equipment, something he enjoyed and was naturally talented at. He worked at the White Mesa Mill for many years as well as the National Park Service at Hovenweep and Natural Bridges.
Randy also enjoyed working at the Dinosaur Museum building displays.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the bishopric and as a high counselor. His favorite callings were associated with Primary. He served for many years with his wife as a temple worker at the Monticello Temple.
In 2019 he suffered a stroke, which led to dementia and other medical problems, eventually leading to a move to Grand Junction Colorado, where he was able to receive excellent medical treatment from the VA.
Randy is proceeded in death by his son, Joshua, his father Harvey, his mother Jesse and his brother Robert. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children, Cassie, Rand (Jaime) and Katie (Doug) Brown, his grandchildren, Douglas, Daxton, Alexis, Connor and Peyton, his siblings, Jerry (Kay), Russell (Salvation), Mona Perkins, Steve (Jan), Shane and Toni (Brian) Hawkins and many relatives.
A funeral service will be held at the Blanding Stake Center on Saturday January 21, 2023, at 12:00 pm, with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 am and a graveside dedication at the Blanding cemetery at 1:30 pm.
The Bradford family wish to express appreciation to Danny Palmer at the San Juan Mortuary, the Blanding Second ward and the Grand Junction Redlands ward. They are grateful to the Grand Junction VA medical staff and Hope West Hospice staff who helped in his care.
