Harold Lewis Frost

March 31, 1929 ~ April 28, 2020

Harold Lewis Frost passed away peacefully from causes incident to old age April 28, 2020 in Monticello. He was 91 years young.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, and one grandson.

He is survived by his wife, Erline Perkins Frost; two sons, Scott (Roxann) and Allen (Debra); two daughters, Ann Francom (Robert) and Peggy Tibbs (Tom). He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.

Harold was born March 31, 1929 in Monticello to Wilford and Thressa Frost. He grew up on Dodge Point and Monticello.

He graduated from Monticello High School in 1947 and received further education in Price, UT.

He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States Mission in 1949. He also served in the Marine Corps in the Korean war from 1951 to 1953.

He met and married Erline Perkins during his time in the military. They were married July 7, 1953 in the Manti, UT Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They started Blue Mountain Meats in 1954 – which is still in the family – and several other businesses, including Blue Mountain Foods, which was later sold.

They had two sons and two daughters, which they raised in Monticello.

Harold, sons, and friends enjoyed yearly horse pack trips, enjoying Francis Barton and his sons’ cooking and Kedric Somerville’s sourdough biscuits and trail scouting.

Later in life Harold and his many four-wheeling friends spent hours with pick, shovel, and trail signs getting new trails and trail systems all over the county approved.

Harold also had a passion for Camp Jackson on the back side of the Blues on property inherited from Earl Perkins, Erline’s father. Harold and Erline spent summers and any spare minute they had at Camp Jackson.

Kids and grandkids spent countless hours helping Harold and Erline improving, playing, and enjoying many family activities on the property.

They built lasting memories with Grandpa and Grandma through family reunions and activities.

Harold was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings, including bishop, councilor in stake presidency with Cooper Jones, and as a temple worker in the Monticello Temple.

Graveside services were held Friday, May 1 following a four-wheeler and vehicle procession going from his home to the cemetery. Graveside services were held for immediate family only.
