Joe Dell “Jody” Bierschied

Joe Dell “Jody” Bierschied, 65 passed away peacefully on June 2, 2016 at the San Juan Hospital in Monticello, UT with his loved ones at his side.
Jody was born on June 23, 1950 in Gilman, CO to Joe Dell Sr. and Jessamine “Jackie” Weaver- Bierschied.
Jody worked at many different occupations throughout his life, from farming, mining, heavy equipment owner/operator, real estate lender, and retired from being a Mining Reclamation Specialists at Rio Algom.  
Jody enjoyed cooking and operated a food vender trailer and served the community at Lake Powell.
Jody married Karen Simpson in 1969 and had two children, Troy “Dirk”, and Tamara “Tami’ Bierschied.
He later married Julie Nunn in 1977 and had two daughters, Tiffany and Tara. 
Jody loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and ATV enthusiast. Some of his favorite hobbies were camping, fishing, boating, site seeing, traveling, gardening, woodworking, board games, and enjoying his grandchildren, just to name a few.
Jody is survived by his wife, Julie, of Moab, UT; daughters Tami Woodruff of Moab, Tiffany Swafford of Morgantown, WV, and Tara Bierschied of La Sal, UT; three brothers, Carl of Oregon and David and Kim of Moab, UT; and seven grandchildren, Lacey, Sabrina, Brekken, Christian, Chase, Porter and Ian.
He is preceded in death by his son, Troy “Dirk” Bierschied, in 1986; parents Joe and Jessamine, stepfather Hugh Wheeler; and siblings Jamie and Billy.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Spanish Valley Mortuary. A potluck luncheon followed the service at the Rotary Park.
