Larry Michael “Mitchel” Mason

May 12, 1954 ~ March 22, 2020
Larry “Mitch” Mason passed from this life on March 22, 2020 in his stepdaughter’s home in Estes Park, CO surrounded by his stepchildren and grandchildren. He was born May 12, 1954 to William Ray and Wanda Faye Maxine (Arnold) Mason and was one of the few people born in the town of Uravan, CO that no longer exists.
Mitch grew up in the Uravan and Naturita, CO area. His father was a uranium miner and his family lived in the Long Park mining community where Mitch and his brothers went on many adventures in the juniper areas nearby. In 1963, the family moved to Dove Creek, CO. Mitch lived in many states, but finally settled back in Blanding, UT to work at his dream job for the forest service for many years.
Mitch loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and 4-wheeling enthusiast. He took his children, grandchildren, and anyone willing to go with him on many outdoor adventures, leaving them with memories they will forever hold dear.
Mitch made friends with whoever he met and was always the life of the party.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his older brother, Terry; his younger brother, Gary; and niece, Jacee Rosemary Butt.
Mitch is survived by his three stepchildren, JJ (Tammy) Squires, Courtney (Johny) Berzett, and Jackie (Johnathan) Robinson; his ten step-grandchildren, Jayden (Emma), Spencer, and Shaelyn Squires; Dominic, Elijah, Keira, and Ashley Berzett; Keirsten, Isaac, and Breanna Robinson; and his two step-great-grandchildren, Jack and Aevyn Squires. He is also survived by two sisters, Rhonda Waschke (Bill) and Dewilla Butt (Vernon); three nephews, Michael Alexander, Devon, and Terry Butt; two nieces, Brittany Waschke and Michaela Mason; two aunts, Rosetta Moots and Faye Burgess; and many cousins, friends, and extended family.
Mitch will be greatly missed, but will be remembered for the many hunts, fishing trips, and adventures he took us on. Per his wishes Mitch was cremated.
