Mary Ann Hurst Scott

October 10, 1939 ~ May 25, 2018
Mary Anne Hurst Scott passed away May 25, 2018, in Brigham City, UT. She was born October 10, 1939, to William Riley Hurst and Carol Bayles in Moab, UT, the second oldest of six children. 
She is preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers Reed (Gaylene Perkins) and Michael (Ellen Hourichi Wiliams); and sons, James, Paul, and Casey.
She is survived by her husband, M. Wayne Scott; her siblings, Winston, Grant, and Heather (Glade Young); and nine of her twelve children, Michelle, Jennifer, Collin, Stephen, Nicole, Paige, Ryan, Carol, and Jonathon.
Mary Anne was raised in Blanding, UT and graduated from San Juan High School.
She was blessed to find a soulmate in M. Wayne Scott. They were married on July 6, 1972 and were later sealed for all time and eternity in the Provo, Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Their two families became one and continued to grow! Wayne affectionately called her, “Mary, the mother of many.”
Family meant everything to Mary Anne. Her talents were unlimited as a skilled artist, masterful seamstress, dancer, mother, and teacher.
Everywhere she lived, she was known for her unceasing kindness and glowing personality. She never stopped serving those who were fortunate to be a part of her world.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mary Anne’s faith and devotion to God was unceasing. Her greatest wish was to instill the teachings of Jesus Christ in her children. She was a living example of walking by faith.
Her family was her legacy, and she strived to pass her compassionate heart and artistic spirit on to her children. Mary Anne’s legacy will live on through her 32 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mary Anne is survived by her husband M. Wayne Scott. His dedication and tender care through her many years suffering with Alzheimer’s is a lesson in true Christlike love. Their lasting devotion was cherished by all who knew them.
A viewing will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the San Juan Mortuary.
Funeral services at the Blanding South LDS Chapel begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 2.
