Verdonne Guymon Blake February 7, 1937 ~ January 22, 2023
VerDonne Guymon Blake passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on January 22, 2023, at the Legacy House in Spanish Fork, UT, where she spent the last five years of her life.
VerDonne was born on Sunday, February 7, 1937, at her home in Blanding, UT, to David Lavar and Freeda Perkins Guymon.
On May 15, 1956, she married her high school sweetheart, John Calvin Blake, in the Manti Utah Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
They had six children and 56 wonderful years together. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister.
As a little girl she enjoyed sleigh riding down the San Juan High School hill and being pulled around on a sleigh by a team of horses her father Dave would get together.
VerDonne was a hard worker and spent 32 years working for San Juan School District as a secretary.
She loved every minute of it. She also loved the students and made many life long friends.
VerDonne was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding many callings including primary teacher, mutual presidency, stake and ward Relief Society President, Sunday teacher in Relief Society, and nursery leader, where the kids lovingly called her Grandma Nursery.
Later in life, she was a temple ordinance worker at the Monticello Utah Temple with her sweetheart, Calvin.
She is survived by five children – Jeffery Calvin (Jodilyn) of Blanding, Callie Dawn (Scott) Winters of Lehi, UT, James Lynn (Cynthia) Blake of Syracuse, UT, Marcia Kay (Darel) Hawkins of Salem, UT, Kevin Dean (Cindy) Blake of Blanding, 39 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her sweetheart John Calvin Blake, daughter Freeda Ann, parents David Lavar Guymon and Freeda Perkins Guymon, brothers Leonard, Clark, Keith, and Ronald, and sister Lorraine.
Funeral services will be held at noon on February 11, 2023, at the Stake Center in Blanding. Viewing is Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center in Blanding. The funeral will be broadcast at Pictureitpalmer.com/funerals.
