Coming off one of the biggest wins in program history, an upset win over Gunnison Valley on March 21, the San Juan High School boys soccer team endured a tough past week with two region matches at home.
The Broncos were unable to net any goals in a 4-0 loss to Beaver on Tuesday, March 26. Parkar Sopena scored his third goal of the season against Parowan on Saturday, March 30, but San Juan fell short in a 3-1 loss.
Goalkeeper Javin Montella continues to play well. Despite giving up seven goals in the two losses this past week, he’s averaging over 20 saves per game.
The team is 1-5 overall and also 1-5 in the 2A South. The initial 2A RPI for the season is set to be revealed on Thursday, April 4.
The Broncos will travel for a couple games this week. On Tuesday, April 2 they played South Sevier in Monroe after the San Juan Record print deadline. They will take on the rival Grand County Red Devils in Moab on Thursday, April 4.
