Buck wrestlers open new season

The Monticello Buckaroo wrestlers took to the mat last weekend at the Red Rocks Invitational in Moab to open their new season.

The Buckaroos had 14 wrestlers competing, with juniors Javlin Robison and Josh Wheeler leading the pack with first-place finishes.

Robison was 8-0 with five of his wins by fall and one technical fall. Wheeler won four matches by fall and one by technical fall.

Buckaroo Seniors Cameron Bailey, Tyler Thayn, and Logan Draper all earned second-place medals at the tournament.

Bailey was 6-2 with four falls and a major decision win. Thayn was 6-2 with all six wins by fall. Draper finished 6-1 with six wins by fall.

Junior Oakley Adams and Sophomore Chandler Henderson each finished with third-place medals. Henderson was 4-2 with one fall. Adams was 5-2 with four falls and an exciting ultimate tie breaker win 3-2.

Junior Treydon Harris finished in fourth place at 5-3 earning four wins by fall and one major decision.  Zac Thayn, Tyson Wheeler, Tavon Black, and Jarum Robison each earned two wins at the tournament. Camren Carpenter earned a win by fall.

The Buckaroos are traveling to Nephi this Friday and Saturday, December 10-11 for the Juab Tournament. They’ll be in Blanding next Wednesday, December 15 for a dual with San Juan.
