Lady Buckaroos suffer three losses heading into the Christmas break

The Monticello High School girls basketball team faced a series of tough Colorado teams last week, going 0-3 against the teams.

After suffering a 63-30 loss to Mancos, CO on December 14, the Lady Bucks were back in action at the Bulldog Classic in Dove Creek over the weekend.

On Friday, the girls dropped their first game to a familiar opponent, tournament host Dove Creek, by a final score of 54-12.

The Lady Bucks were led in points by Kylie Rogers, who finished the game with four. Rosy Beh added three points for the Lady Bucks, while Nikki Gomez and Taylor Thomason had two points and Madi Keyes hit a free throw.

In their Saturday game, the Lady Bucks played Nucla, dropping the game 50-39.

The Monticello girls led in the game through the first quarter and a half before Nucla pulled away in the second half of play.

Ciara McCarthy led the Lady Bucks with ten points, while Kylie Rogers had eight and Avery Shumway contributed seven. 

Kenlee Atwood had five points, with Keyes adding three. Jessi Slack, Kahryme Alvarodo, and Jemma Robison all added two points to the total as well.

The Lady Bucks are off for Christmas break, with their next game coming on January 4 in Blanding against the rival San Juan Lady Broncos.
