Lady Buckaroos take fourth place at 39-team SUU Coliseum Track and Field Championships

The Monticello High School track and field teams traveled all the way over to Cedar City this past Friday and Saturday, May 2-3 to compete in the Southern Utah University High School Coliseum Championships.
It was the final meet of the regular season for the Buckaroos and they got some very impressive results, specifically in the girls competitions, at the event which featured 39 teams and 1,013 athletes.
The girls team scored 47.5 points to finish fourth behind Cedar Valley, Hurricane, and Pine View. The boys scored five points to come home 20th. The teams finished 12th with a combined score of 52.5 points.
Marley Mack was third among all the girls at the event, scoring 28.5 points on the weekend. She won the 100-meter hurdles with a run of 15.59 seconds for ten points.
She scored eight points with a second-place finish in the long jump, sailing 16 feet, 10.5 inches. She crossed the line in 49.18 to take third in the 300 hurdles, scoring six points. And she was fourth in the 100-meter dash with a 12.99, earning 4.5 points.
Marah Long collected ten points for the Lady Buckaroos. She came home with a third-place finish in the 3200-meter race, crossing the line in 12:03.5 for six points. She was fifth in the 800 meter with a 2:28.76, earning four points.
The girls 4x400 relay team of Josie Mack, Lilli Burton, Grace Coleman, and Jane Burton took fourth place in 4:45.85, earning five points.
And the sprint medley relay team of Myah Lewis, Latalia O’Harra, Grace Coleman, and Josie Mack was fifth in 4:59.82 for four points.
The boys scored four points in the 4x100 relay when the team of Josh Morrison, Tavon Black, Miles Coleman, and Carter Rogers crossed the line in 45.59 seconds.
And the 4x400 relay team of Seth Taylor, Kooper Nielson, Eli Carling, and Aaron Gillette earned the final point for the Buckaroo boys with an eighth-place finish in 3:47.83.
The Monticello teams are hosting the Region 19 Championship on Wednesday, May 7 with Monument Valley, Whitehorse, Green River, and Pinnacle Academy in attendance.
The Utah State Track and Field Championships are set for May 15-17 at BYU in Provo.
