Monument Valley boys basketball season comes to a close
The Monument Valley boys basketball team season came to an end on February 24 in the opening round of the 1A playoffs. The #18 seed Cougar boys traveled to Tropic to play against the #15 seed Bryce Valley Mustangs, but were defeated 70-51. The Cougars trailed 11-7 after one quarter, and were down 32-25 at halftime. In the third quarter the Cougars got to within four points but by the end of the quarter Bryce Valley led by 56-43, with the final score favoring the Mustangs 71-50.
Monument Valley was led in the game by Braxton Goodshield who hit five threes and scored 24 points in the game, Melias Cly added 18 points for the Cougars with Joshua Hicks scoring six and Akecheta Shortman scoring two.
The Cougars ended the season with a record of 5-18 and will say a fond farewell to Seniors Braxton Goodshield, Melias Cly, and Joshua Hicks.
