The Monument Valley football team is 0-3 with three games remaining in the 2024 regular season. They opened the season on August 30 with a tough 77-0 loss at St. Joseph. On September 20 they fell to Navajo Pine 52-20.
In their most recent game, at home against Utah Military Academy Hill Field this past Friday, September 27, the Cougars scored a touchdown late in the second half to make the score 12-6 at halftime. But the Thunderbirds dominated the second half on the way to a 32-6 final.
Monument Valley stopped the Thunderbirds on fourth down on their own 28 with just over three minutes to go in the half. From there senior quarterback Shayden Fatt hit Alexander Hicks with a nice touchdown pass to make the score 12-6.
The Cougars are ninth in the 8-man RPI standings and they’re looking for some strong performances in the final three games of the regular season.
They’ll travel to face #5 Altamont this Friday, October 4. It’s a short turnaround when they return home to host Utah Military Academy Camp Williams on Wednesday, October 9.
They’ll close out the regular season with the Battle of the Drum on Friday, October 18 when the rival Whitehorse Raiders pay a visit to the MVHS football field.
